My Favorite iPad Apps

A good friend just got her first iPad and she asked me for a list of my favorite iPad apps. Here are the apps I find myself returning to again and again:

  • Instapaper. It’s probably my one favorite app/web service.
  • Twitter. Great interface, maybe the best Twitter experience on any device out there.
  • Simplenote. I sync Simplenote on iPad and iPhone with Notational Velocity on my Mac so I always have notes up to date.
  • Dropbox: Great for checking files I saved on the Mac.
  • Remote. Often easier than walking across the room to change the song playing in iTunes. Yes, I’m lazy. ;)
  • iBooks and Kindle. The Kindle (device) offers a better reading experience but I end up reading on my iPad more because that’s what I have handy.
  • Epicurious. Inspiration when I don’t know what to cook for dinner.
  • AppShopper. A nice way to discover new apps.
  • VLC. Nice for watching content legally downloaded from the web.
  • TED. Instant inspiration.
  • Friendly. The best Facebook browser out there.
  • Flipboard. A fun way to read articles from Twitter, magazine style.
  • The Guardian Eyewitness. Gorgeous photos.
